While participating the April speed flying camp with Duane Hall, I had a chance to meet a lot of interesting flyers and try out many different ground launching and speed flying wings.
And thanks to the "swoop girl" Diana Blackburn I get a chance to launch and take for few little test flights the smallest canopy I ever flown, her tiny pink Icarus NEOS 59 sq. ft. This is probably the smallest wing that was ever launched! ;)
ABOUT NEOS 59
A fully elliptical shape makes it realy exceptionally responsive to your input. The canopy descriptions of Icarus Neos promises excellent glide, especially during rear riser flight. I still didn't get a chance to experience the rear riser flight, as I was launching in winds around 15mph, so after the take off with quite a lot of toggle input, I didn't get enough altitude for the transfer and my flight was very short, as the canopy descend is really steep.
During flight it felt like my JVX is way more rigid, but that make sense as it's crossbracing is of the newest advanced designs.
I also enjoyed flying GLX 104 & GLX 113 in no wind conditions, very fun 2-ways with Diana, both flying same size canopies with very similar wingloading! That doesn't happen very often to me, so I was super excited! I also tested the new Mirage Speedfly wing size 9, and launched my JVX 66 several times in 12mph winds. I would like to add special thanks to all participantds of the camp for nice friendly environment and a lot of fun flying ;)
MY GOAL FOR THE MAY CAMP: fly more speedfly wings & launch the 59 on the risers! Let's see!
